October 20th Update
.hmmessage P { margin:0px; padding:0px } body.hmmessage { FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY:Tahoma } Hello -
It was nice to see so many of you at the fall fair. My family and I had a wonderful time. Hunter loved the water slide and Zander liked dancing to the music on the sport court.
Things in the classroom are going well. In the past 2 weeks we learned the Parts of the Stem and the Laws of the Universe. We are working on our follow-up by repeating lessons we have already been presented so we may master them. This week we will learn the Clock of Eras which continues the story from the Laws of the Universe on how the Earth was formed. We continue to work daily on our math, reading, and writing skills.
Some of the students have began writing letters to schools across the country as part of the GREAT MAIL RACE. We write a letter to a Montessori school in each state and hope to get a response from them. It should be fun to see how many responses we get throughout the year. Our pen-pals from California will be sending their first letters to us this week. I am sure your child will tell you all about it when the letters arrive!
This Friday, October 24 is CRAZY HAIR DAY. For a donation of $5.00, your child can wear their hair as crazy and funny as they can think of! Paint it, spray it, be creative as you can! The money helps the teachers pay for our trip to the American Montessori Society conference in New Orleans in February. If your child would like to participate, please have them turn their money in by Thursday so we will know who is participating.
Also, we are trying to create a school cookbook. If you would like to have one (or two) of your favorite recipes included in the book, please email them to me (or Angela Updike) as soon as possible. We are looking for entrees, desserts, breads, salads, etc. Your child will get to decorate the page your recipes are on in Art Class in the coming weeks. The more recipes we receive, the better the cookbook will be.
Have a wonderful evening,
Jennifer
