NEWS FROM THE SUMMIT LIBRARY
The Summit library looks GREAT!!! Our library tree is truly blooming. As of December lst, there are 566 leaves and the branches are spreading around the room! We are well on our way to our goal of 2008 books read for 2007-2008!
As you know, we try to have every child (except toddlers) take out a book every week. We try to accommodate the children’s selections and help them to make appropriate and personalized choices. Please let us know if you are ever disappointed in the book they bring home or if you have a suggestion for us as to a specific book or a type of book for your child to read.
Did you know that in every library class, an appropriate book is read and a library skill presented? Currently, all the elementary classes are reading poetry while the younger students listening to a poem and learning songs.
The kids really need your support to remember to return their books: please give your child a reminder to put their book in their backpacks. They so enjoy joining their classmates in the fun of taking out a book. We encourage and inspire them to read, read, read and don’t want anyone to feel left out. It would be wonderful if you could also assist them in completing their name and the name of the book on their leaf. A big thank you to families who are cutting leaves and donating books to our school.
The library is a great place to sit and catch your breath or look at a book. Come in and visit.
